Seconn Announces Its New Division: Seconn Automation

Paying close attention to efficiency through innovation and technology investment has always been a driving force to Seconn’s success. Today’s demanding manufacturing climate requires innovation through automation. From lean manufacturing principles to inventory optimization and cycle time reduction, the application of automation has become synonymous with competitive advantage, efficiency and continuous improvement. Successful automation initiatives create global competitive advantages, even in areas where labor costs traditionally prohibit manufacturing attractiveness.

Our new division, Seconn Automation, has emerged from both 1) our clients requests to leverage our expertise in robotic welding and automation and 2) our strategic mission to bring valuable speed and competitive solutions to our clients. Industrial robotics is no longer the privileged purview of a few big manufacturing players. Today, any manufacturer can quickly, affordably, and with no special technical skill profitably integrate robotics into their processes and sharpen their competitive edges.

Seconn Automation provides a wide variety of solutions for manufacturing through ground-up development of semi, flexible, and fully automated systems, integrated by a strong group of accomplished industry veterans. The application of these measurable automated solutions creates gaps between the innovative and the struggling.

Seconn Automation is aligned with the strongest brands of automated components. ABB Robotics, Kuka Robotics, Weldlogics, Fronius Welding systems, Koike Positioning, GE, Seamans, Fanuc, Jetline, and Buggo are some of the samples from within the Seconn Automation toolbox. Seconn Automation professionals utilize both manufacturing, mechanical, and control engineering platforms as well as factory trained sales and service personnel.

The Automation team at Seconn designs diverse offerings across multiple industries. We develop robotic solutions for pick-n-place, palletizing, machine loading, machine tending, polishing, buffing, all welding processes, and other more complex situations.

Since the beginning of 2010, the demand for industrial robots has been surging worldwide. With little support for businesses coming out of an unpredictable and volatile Washington, savvy manufacturers are enhancing competitive strengths by investing in automation. Seconn Automation is uniquely well-positioned to deliver quantifiable value in customized automation solutions.

Collaboration – A Strategic Imperative

The movie, A Beautiful Mind, depicted the life of the mathematician, John Forbes Nash, Jr. What the movie script ignored was how Nash’s Equilibrium Theory contributed greatly to the current evolution of business strategy. Stated simply, Jill and Jack are in Nash equilibrium if Jill is making the best decision she can, while simultaneously taking into account Jack’s decision, and Jack is making the best decision he can, while simultaneously taking into account Jill’s decision. Likewise, a group or team or company or organization is in Nash equilibrium if each one is making the best decision possible while taking into account the decisions of the others’ involved. Nash’s theory is scientific underpinning that’s helpful when working to optimize inter-organization collaboration, and it helps explain why collaboration is emerging as a strategic imperative for business today.

The collaborative organization of the future will be defined by integrity, honesty, strong relationships, and the ability to take short-term pain in order to achieve long-term gain. Selfishness and greed work to isolate people and businesses, and success in this century will not be available to the isolated. Manufacturing’s recent past is strewn with the failures due to isolation. New forms of partnering are emerging everywhere. To succeed, organizations must be pursuing closer connections with key suppliers and clients.

A company’s success is embedded within the organizations with which it interacts. The strength of one company’s competitive advantage is, to a certain extent, dependent on that company’s relationships with its suppliers, partners, and clients. How well we lead and manage our interacting resources, capabilities, routines, and knowledge-transfer impacts not only our own destiny, but also the destiny of those around us.

The strategic partner-organization is one that is concerned about protecting and enhancing the competitiveness of its partner as much as itself. A good prospect for collaboration is one that is interested in anticipating your ever-changing and emerging needs. To succeed, we must work hard to understand shared objectives and work collectively to achieve them. This cannot happen in the transactional behavior of the good-old-days – we must learn collaboration as not just a differentiator but as a strategic imperative.

Finding the Right Talent & Best Team…

It’s that unusual time of year where on any given day, you’ll find football, basketball and hockey games with every click of the remote. As a result, we’re highly aware of the configuration of many teams and where good managers are recruiting talent to assure the best combination of skills.

The right talent and the best team has long been a priority for Seconn and since the day we opened our door, we have recruited the brightest in manufacturing, engineering, quality and operations. As we make plans to enter 2011, we recently made a decision to expand our sales/customer relations team to align this key area of our business model with the standards of excellence found elsewhere in our organization.

As of today, Seconn has increase our internal customer relationship team to include four experienced sales estimators, two customer service agents and a outside sales consultant with the commitment to service you expect. Each client account will be assigned a dedicated representative to streamline the estimating process and support your project from quote inquiry to prompt shipping. We’re making this investment, for we believe the stronger a relationship starts, the stronger it remains.

In the coming weeks, the sales associate partnered with your account will reach out to share introductions and contact information. Until that time, I invite your direct calls to address any questions at 860-443-0000 extension 24 or you may email at sales@seconn.com.

Wishing you all the best at the close of this year, and a bright new year ahead.

Empowered…never overpowered….again.

It began with a sense of pride at every hard-won U.S. Olympic medal. A few months later, it was witnessing the housecleaning, otherwise known as the recent mid-election votes, that got my attention. But it was the increased bid activity from customers who previously had done business overseas that finally made it clear — we are no longer an overpowered…but empowered…nation once again.

A recent survey of 2,000 Americans found that for me, and the guy across the street, the recession is over. Quite frankly we’re tired of anxiety-inducing news regarding the economy, and more than ready to move forward. Aware of a changed reality, we are mindful of our challenges, but equally confident in our ability to tackle issues — from expressing how pissed off we are with the power of our vote, to questioning everything, not least, the quality of education our children are receiving.

What is most remarkable about this new empowerment is that it’s both deeply personal, and nationally focused… at the same time.

Now that I was aware of this renewed sense of control, I realized there was evidence everywhere. Among the piles of information we all try to absorb, you’ll find quiet reference that more referrals to web information (websites, news articles) are happening from Facebook more then any other source…including search engines. This means that consumers are asking other consumers…not Google…for advice about what to buy, and best choices for that hard-earned dollar. Simply put, we’ve come to understand that taking control, begins at home.

Don’t tell us what we should buy, when to buy, or what we should be doing. We made this country…we can absolutely make up our own minds.

For Seconn, “control at home” has meant a number of core initiatives that meets our vision for a leaner, responsive operation. From completing our ISO Certification and defining systems for assuring quality, to pending completion of a dedicated rapid response prototype unit.

Right on the tail of these goals will be the launch of a web-based job-tracking portal. This customer-friendly resource will provide real-time, up to the minute information regarding the status of every order. With this initiative, and others that follow, Seconn is mirroring empowerment trends and building resources that will build improved relationships as well.

Will this empowerment impact the bottom line? Absolutely.

Recently, we were selected for a significant project not because we offered the best price. We were selected because we offered the best value — a one stop shop, turn around time, quality, a skilled and invested workforce and more. At Seconn, we’ve come to realize that our newest customers, as well as those that have come before, are seeking partners that will empower success, and we’re prepared to do whatever it takes, to be a vital part of this momentum.

We’re not done testing our metal…not by a long shot. How about you? If you’re ready to take control, we’re ready to take your order.
