Seconn Fabrication acquires Westbrook Manufacturing

Seconn Fabrication of Waterford, Connecticut, announced today the successful completion of negotiations resulting in the purchase of Westbrook Manufacturing formerly of Ivoryton, Connecticut.

“The purchase of this respected machining company is the final component we were seeking to become a one-stop sheet metal manufacturing resource,” explains Rob Marelli, President and CEO of Seconn. “In just a few short years we have built a reputation for operational efficiencies and the fastest production times in the industry. We achieved this by investing in the best technology, the brightest talent, and by taking steps to control as much of the production process as possible.”

As part of the buy-out agreement, Seconn will be closing the Ivoryton facility and relocating the entire machine shop operation to Seconn’s 35,000 sq.ft. facility in Waterford. Bob Marozzi, the principal of Westbrook Manufacturing, will join the Seconn team. “It was an ideal solution for both our organizations,“ shares Marozzi. “It makes sense to reduce operating costs by working together to service the same customers. I look forward to being able to focus on supporting the machine shop while Rob and his team manages the overall operations, sales and production systems.

The addition of machining to the Seconn production line follows acquisitions of laser cutting technology, robotic welding, paint/finishing systems and a fleet of delivery vehicles this year alone. These aggressive investments have provided the control and quality that Seconn was seeking, explains Rich Sweet, Seconn’s Production Manager.

“Seconn has been growing at such a fast pace with 60% growth in 06’ and 40% growth in 07’ that machining quickly became an integral part of our business. Until the purchase of Westbrook Manufacturing, we were contracting out work to machining vendors, and therefore losing control of some aspects of production. We now have the equipment necessary to take care of our customers within our own standards of turn-around and quality.”
