January 2008 – With the New Year comes new plans at Seconn Fabrication

Robert Marelli, President/CEO of Seconn announced today plans for a 24,000 square foot expansion of the current Waterford, Connecticut headquarters. This expansion would provide Seconn with more than 60,000 total square feet of production and administration facilities. “Seconn has consistently invested in three key areas to enhance efficiency and reduce lead time — skilled people, leading-edge technology and well-designed facilities. We have quickly outgrown the plant we opened in 2006, and to assure customer satisfaction, we’re adding some growing room,” explains Rob — the recipient of the two recent recognitions —  2007 Entrepreneur of the Year for Eastern Connecticut, and Fabricator Manufacturing Association (FMA) 2008 International Fabricator of the Year.

Ground has been broken and leveled for the expansion, which will encompass the back and perimeters of the current facility. It is anticipated that construction will be completed by the spring of this year, and first to move into the new space will be a production team focusing on prototype development. By dedicating space to this important step in the manufacturing process, Seconn will assure faster turnaround and shorter lead times. Also housed in the expansion will be an enhanced, fully automated powdercoat line and the recently acquired machine shop.

Seconn has surpassed all sales goals by clocking in a $9.5 million year in 2007, and with this expansion, will achieve optimized operating conditions to reach a new milestone in 2008.  “We know what it takes to succeed,” shares Rob. “Our formula is not unique, but one that we live by. We will do whatever it takes to achieve customer satisfaction. We have the brightest, most dedicated team; state-of-the-moment technology and a passion to go beyond expectations. It’s this combination of attributes that won my team the inaugural International Fabricator of the Year Award and I couldn’t be prouder of us all.”
