The “mule car” — the initial prototype that included the Seconn chassis, was manufactured and rigorously tested by GM for strength and resiliency. After the mule car passed muster, five more concept cars, all with the Seconn supplied chassis, were built and distributed as gifts throughout the industry. The LS7 was built for speed right from the drawing board, with even the chassis being built in record time — just three days from plans to delivery. This land speed record was possible thanks to Seconn’s continued investment in technology, and their Trumpf 2510 laser fabrication machine, able to process the large sheets of carbon steel required to meet specifications. “With a dedicated, experienced team, backed by state-of-the-art technology, we worked 24/7 to get this project out by the client’s deadline,” shares Rob Marelli, President and Owner of Seconn. Due to the positive feedback from the initial concept cars, Seconn has learned that GM may produce another 100 LS7s for major dealerships in 2008. “Of course we hope to be considered for this next order, after more than meeting the deadline on the prototypes” concludes Marelli. “It would be a great opportunity for a Connecticut-based manufacturer, and we have a proven track record of the shortest lead times in the industry. When GM calls, we’ll be ready.”
